Supporting Young People Through PCYC Blackwater
April 23, 2026
Since 2016, BUMA Blackwater has proudly supported our local Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC), providing financial assistance to help deliver youth programs that benefit the wider Blackwater community.
PCYC’s programs are committed to addressing whole‑of‑community needs, creating positive pathways for young people and fostering social connection through inclusive, supportive initiatives. These programs play an important role in helping young people build confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging.
A key initiative we continue to support is Braking the Cycle, a program designed to remove one of the most significant barriers facing young people in Central Queensland, access to transport. Through Braking the Cycle, participants are given the opportunity to learn to drive legally and safely, accumulating their 100 logbook hours alongside trained volunteer mentors. Beyond driving skills, the program builds confidence, responsibility, and employability, opening doors to education, training, and work opportunities.
BUMA Blackwater is proud not only to sponsor Braking the Cycle, but also to actively participate. Members of our dedicated team volunteer as driving mentors, supporting young people to develop safe driving habits and confidence behind the wheel.
In 2025, we extended our support even further, expanding our involvement to PCYC’s Drop‑In and After Dark programs. These initiatives provide safe, welcoming spaces where young people can connect, participate in sport and recreational activities, and thrive in a positive environment.
To add an extra layer of fun and community spirit, we also launched the BUMA Pool Tournament, giving local youth the chance to enjoy friendly competition while feeling supported and encouraged by those around them.

Through our continued support of the Braking the Cycle, Drop‑In and After Dark programs, BUMA Blackwater is investing in young people and their futures, strengthening community connections and helping create positive pathways across Blackwater.
