Our team has been operating at Goonyella since we were first awarded the contract in 2015 and since then our operation has continued to evolve and expand.

Located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, BMA’s Goonyella Riverside Mine is situated approximately 30 kilometres from the town of Moranbah, and about 190km by rail to the west of Mackay and the export terminals of Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay.

BUMA Australia has provided mining services to BMA at their Goonyella site since 2022, building upon the extensive experience gained from the previous operations (as Downer East Coast Mining business) since 2015. This project initially commenced with two 600t fleets mining predominately pre-strip. In the period from 2022 to date, the scope of the contract has evolved, and fleets expanded, firstly, with an 800t excavator and trucks transitioning from our Boggabri operations. The scope was then further expanded with the commission of a second new 800t excavator and accompanying trucks to meet growing production requirements.  With the growth in scope, a third 800t excavator was commissioned in 2023. Since early 2024, we have been operating 2 x 800t, 1 x 600t, and 1 x 400t excavators.

We bring management, supervision, and a workforce of operators and maintenance trades necessary to achieve our commitments to BMA Australia. This includes technical, human resources as well as full safety, training and administrative capability.

Our current fleet capacity is 44 million banked cubic meters of material annually.
