BUMA Australia delivers full-service mining operations at Stanwell Corporation’s Meandu Mine, producing approximately 6 million tonnes of product coal annually for the neighbouring Tarong and Tarong North power stations.

Our team has worked in partnership with Stanwell since 2013, providing end to end mining services.
As Meandu’s statutory operator for Stanwell Corporation, BUMA Australia holds responsibility for the mine, ensuring full compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulations and demonstrating our capability to manage complex operations safely, efficiently, and in alignment with stringent regulatory requirements.

- Rehabilitation

- Maintenance of Mobile and Fixed Plant
Meandu Mine currently has four working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the power stations until at least 2037. Coal at Meandu is mined from three gently dipping seams, varying in thickness from two- to twenty metres. The two principal seams occur at an average depth of 30 and 60 metres respectively.
Community and Environment
Located approximately 25 kilometres south-east of Kingaroy, we employ the majority of our workforce from the local South Burnett region and offer apprenticeships to school leavers and traineeships each year focusing on diversity and Indigenous participation.

BUMA Australia supports the South Burnett region through job creation, community partnerships, and environmental stewardship. At Meandu Mine, our team actively contributes to local development by sponsoring community events and sporting teams, participating in careers fairs, and collaborating with regional businesses.In line with our values, we are equally committed to environmental sustainability. Progressive rehabilitation remains a key focus at Meandu, with BUMA Australia having completed in excess of 39.4 hectares of native vegetation rehabilitation at Meandu Mine to date.
