Our Operations

 

Bowen Coking Coal’s Burton Project is a greenfield project located 120km west-southwest of Mackay and ~25km north of Broadmeadow East in the Bowen Basin, QLD. The Burton Mine is an expansion of the Broadmeadow East (BME) Coal Project which was originally awarded to BUMA in April 2022. 

BUMA’s scope of works includes statutory management of the mining operations, clearing, grubbing and topsoil removal, drill and blast, load and haul of coal and waste, dump management and progressive rehabilitation works, while utilising client-provided workshop and office facilities. 

At steady state, combined ROM Coal production is expected to be ~4.5 Mtpa which will be processed at the Burton Coal Mine CHPP. 

Prime Fleet for the Burton Project comprises of the following:  

  • 1 x Komatsu PC4000 excavator 
  • 1 x Hitachi EX3600 excavator 
  • 1 x Caterpillar 6060 excavator 
  • 6 x Caterpillar 793 haul trucks 
  • 8 x Caterpillar 789 haul trucks
  • 2 x Caterpillar 16M graders
  • 4 x Caterpillar D10 dozers 
  • 2 x Caterpillar 777 water trucks

 

Community and Environment

 

We work closely with the community to operate a safe and environmentally responsible mining operation. Dust and noise restrictions are managed to ensure minimal impact.
